photo essay
reflection
The subject of my photo essay is capturing the various geological aspects of Pierce Beach. What is unique about Pierce Beach is the broad difference in landscapes it has to offer. You can walk down one path that is a large open field; and that path then leads you to a visually stunning view of the water. In all the spots the beach has to offer, they all have their own unique tone to them.
The pictures included in this essay display the overall broad landscape of Pierce Beach. The first image (#1) starts the 'story' of this essay with two leading paths. The next picture (#2) begins taking you down that path, into a lighter and brighter environment. On photo #3 I chose to focus on a branch of newly-budding plants on the bushes along the path. Then, #4 includes another close up -- focusing on the weathered-look of a rock. My favorite part of photo #5 is the leading lines that are formed by the bushes on the right and trees on the left. Starting with image #6, the photos transition out of the path and into another environment. This photo is of a large open field, which interestingly has one tree that stands alone in space. The gray and white clouds also make a great impression on this photo, in my opinion.
Image #7 of my photo essay starts bringing the many environments of the 'story' to the beach. This photo also has that same quality of clouds that are nice to look at. Next on image #8, I moved out farther from the water and included some beach grass in the foreground; image #9 was also taken in the same area. Both photos #10 and 11 were captured in the same area; and, #11 includes a view of a house next to the beach from behind the grass.
In the final 4 images of the essay, the 'story' concludes very close to the shore line of the beach. Image #12 feels as if it was taken on top of the water and the ripples of the water draw your eye out to the background. Image #15 brings the story to its end with the footsteps leading to the distance.
