“.…he was innovative, determined and, above all, passionate.”
-The Telegraph
Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco, California to two college students, who were not married at the time. They eventually put Steve up for adoption. Later on, when Jobs was an infant, he was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. As a child, Jobs preferred doing things by himself. He showed an early interest in electronics and worked with his father and neighbor in his neighbor's garage on computers. He was a pescetarian, which meant that his diet included fish, but no other meat.
When he was enrolled into the Hewlett Packard Explorer Group, he then knew he wanted to work with computers. Jobs tested so well in school that some of his teachers wanted him to skip ahead to high school, but his parents declined the request.
In 1975, Jobs joined a group known as the Homebrew Computer Club. One member, a technical whiz named Steve Wozniak was trying to build a small computer. Jobs became fascinated with the marketing potential of such a computer. In 1976, Jobs and Wonziak formed their own company. They called it the Apple Computer Company. They named it this name, in memory of a summer Steve had spent apple picking. Jobs and Wozniak later went on to redesign their computer. The Apple II made 2.7 million dollars in its first year on the market. Sales grew to $200 million dollars within three years. In 1986, Steve Jobs purchased a small company called Pixar from filmmaker George Lucas, films that were produced from this company went on to become extremely successful.
Jobs married Laurene Powell on March 18, 1991 and resided in Palo Alto, California with his wife and three children. Steve Jobs remained a private man who rarely shared information about his family to the public. In July of 2004, Steve's health declined after he received a treatment to remove a cancerous tumor from his pancreas. Jobs received another treatment in 2009, a liver transplant. Before his death in 2011, Jobs had plans to volunteer in designing an ad campaign for Obama's reelection in 2012. Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple on August 24th, 2011, when his health problems kept him from running the company. At the age of 56 years old, Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Throughout his personal life and life at Apple, Steve Jobs was respected for his personality and his strong leadership skills. He ran what is perhaps the most respected company in the world with people he loved working with. He took his role in life and business seriously, which is probably the reason why he became so successful. He was determined and passionate at achieving many goals. Steve Jobs will always be the entrepreneur I most admire.
